Background
NPL Estates Ltd, one of the UK's leading brownfield regeneration companies has acquired the 1700 acre site at Ardeer in Ayrshire. Through a Partnership Agreement with North Ayrshire Council, a Draft Masterplan was submitted to NAC Planning in Feb 2007. NPL have worked through the issues raised from this with their planning consultants Keppie and environmental consultants Enviros and submitted a revised Masterplan to NAC Planning in late 2008. This Masterplan has informed the current local development plan process for many of the proposals to become enshrined in planning allocation. This web site is designed to assist in the dissemination of information relating to the project, enabling the local community and local interest groups to gather information on this exciting project.
Consultation
Several successful community consultations have taken place since acquisition of the site, these have shaped and moulded the plans to those currently displayed. The site has proposed definitive uses but remains flexible for employment approaches.
Success
Outwith the Local Development Plan process we have been successful in receiving planning subject to a section 75 agreement on our East Garnock Sand & Gravels which will create 33 full-time jobs and secure environmental benefits for generations through the creation of a Wetland Park. Our mineral capabilities are detailed under the Sand & Gravels section of our website.
In addition we have secured the Green Waste Composting Contract for the next 5 years from North Ayrshire Council which not only enables the local authority to meet its recycling targets but provides remediation materials for the site and the potential to expand the facility bringing additional jobs.
Future Timetable
Following the close of consultation on the North Ayrshire Council Main Issues Report, NPL will determine a programme of applications to build on the works to date. Details of these and the consultation elements will appear on this website in due course.
An Executive Summary of the Masterplan and other documents are available to download below.
